I work with adults who are experiencing a variety of difficulties, from relationship or family issues to more long-term patterns of behaviour which are having a negative impact on their lives.
My way of working is relational which means I believe that the relationship between us is one of the most important parts of your therapy. My professional training is Integrative. I think about what methods of working would be most helpful for you, drawing on a range of psychological theories including Humanistic, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and CBT.
Initially we will explore your expectations of counselling and what you would like to achieve from our time together. Simply sharing the burden with someone who is trained to listen and support you can be enough. It is important to me that you have a warm and respectful space in which to explore what is troubling you and perhaps find new ways of coping.
I can also offer appointments in the evenings to suit those who are working. If you would like to work together, or have any questions, please contact me and we can try and arrange a suitable time for an initial consultation.
I am an experienced counsellor who has worked in the NHS and Higher Education, committed to ongoing training to ensure I am well equipped to work with a range of issues and people.

Having an initial consultation is standard practice for any kind of therapy and is used for you to find out if you feel comfortable working with me and for me to find out a little more about you. I don’t require any commitment to ongoing sessions at this point and we would discuss what you would like to do afterwards.
I would normally see you for weekly 50 minute sessions, either for a fixed time (for example for six or twelve weeks) or for longer, more open-ended time if we agree that together.
My fees range from £30 to £60 and concessions can be discussed if you are in difficult financial circumstances.
